Monday to Friday       8:00AM- 7:30PM

Saturday                      8:00AM-12:00NN

LIBRARY POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND SERVICES

STUDENTS

  1. Upon entering the library, students should wear their school ID.

  2. The library is mainly for research. Eating, sleeping, making visual aids and group discussions  are not allowed.

  3. Silence, cleanliness and orderliness must be observed strictly at all times.

  4. Cell phones and other electronic communication gadgets must be set to silent mode while inside the library; answering/making calls should be done outside the library.

  5. Chairs must be pushed back against the table after using and must not be transferred from one place to another.

  6. Books should be left on the table after use.

  7. Laptops can be used, provided these are solely for research and are not connected to any electrical outlet in the library.

  8. Periodical materials like magazines, newspaper, etc. and general reference books are to be used in the library only. They must be returned to their proper places after using.

  9. The following are the schedules for charging out of books:
    • Filipiniana Books- can be borrowed for one day
    • Subject Reference/Non-Filipiniana Books- can be borrowed for one week
    • Fiction Books- can be borrowed for one week
  10. Students can borrow a maximum of five (5) books at a time.

  11. Fines are charged for books not returned on due dates.
    • Fiction Books- Php 2.00/day including Sundays and Holidays
    • Subject Reference/Non-Filipiniana- Php 5.00/day  including Sundays       and Holidays
    • Filipiniana Books- Php 5.00/day including Sundays and Holidays
  12. Damaged books and all losses should be paid based on the current price of the book plus the processing fee. Should the student decide to replace them, the following have to be met:
    • The Title, Author and edition must be the same
    • Reprinted edition is not accepted as a replacement for original edition
    •  Processing fee
  13. Upon living the library, all clients must present their personal things for inspection.

  14. Willful violation of the library rules such as not returning books on time, lending and borrowing books for friends, defacing or mutilating books, stealing library properties and other violations are punishable by loss of library privileges, payment of the cost of the defaced or mutilated material, fines, or upon the discretion of the librarian.

 

SERVICES TO STUDENTS

  1. REFERENCE/ INFORMATION
    Libary Service

    This is a personal assistance given to the students in their research and information needs. Meanwhile, Virtual Reference Service facilitates students and faculty members’ information needs via email, chat, or instant messaging.

     

  2. LIBRARY ORIENTATION/INSTRUCTION

    Library orientation refers to helping people be aware of and comfortable with the facilities and the services available, with the location of the collections and with the people who service those collections. Library instruction refers to the teaching of the effective use of the library to the students and other users.

     

  3. CIRCULATION SERVICE

    It is concerned with the following activities: charging out the material to the reader, receiving  returned materials, and returning these to its proper location.

    It is concerned with the following activities:

    • Reserve Book Service – References designated by faculty members as required readings for their classes are placed on “Reserve”. The library also accepts faculty member’s personal copies to be placed on reserve, which are for “library use only”.
    • Curbside Pickup Service – A service that allows library patrons to borrow book/s by online appointment and pick them up at designated stations.
    • Stack/Storage Book Service – for books that are found in the different storage areas.
    • Online Renewal – Library users who may have the need to renew borrowed library materials may do so online.
    • Hold Request – Library users may request “Hold” on currently borrowed library materials through OPAC access using his/her personal account by clicking on “Place Hold” button.
    • Self Check System – A self-service system that allows library users to check-out books electronically without the need to pass through the circulation counter. All books in the library can be self-checked except General References and those marked “Non-Circulating”.
  4. LIBRARY DISPLAYS/ EXHIBITS

    This service helps make library users aware of the materials available in the library. Library displays/exhibits are also done in consonance with the celebration of some occasions.

     

     

  5.  INTERNET SERVICE

    This service allows the students to access the internet for free. However, the use of internet must be in line with education and research only.

     

  6.  E-RESOURCES ACCESS ASSISTANCE
    This allows the library users the optimal use of the library’s electronic resources via online.
  7. LITERATURE SEARCH
    Library users who may want to know what has been published or what references are available for a specific subject or topic are assisted through this service. All available guides, lists, indexes and bibliographies are checked to produce the needed materials/information.
  8. LIBRARY INSTRUCTION/INFORMATION LITERACY
    Refers to the teaching of students and other users the effective use of the library.
  9. BIBLIOGRAPHIC SERVICE
    List of books and other materials on selected areas of interest is provided by the library upon the request of the faculty members.
  10. SELECTIVE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION (SDI)

    .    Current Awareness – is an on-going dissemination of information to the faculty and to the rest of the academic community with regard to the newly-acquired books and other library materials.

    1. Library Reaching Out – is concerned with informing faculty members of the available books in their field of specialization. They are invited to come to the library at their most convenient time in order to see for themselves the books/materials being announced.
    2. Virtual Document Delivery – provides library users virtual copies of journal articles or book chapters and other documents upon request.
  11. INFORMATION DRIVEThis is a yearly service of the library for the purpose of:
    1. helping faculty members gain better understanding of the key role of the library to instruction;
    2. becoming acquainted with the library’s resources, services, facilities and technological tools made available for their use;
    3. providing assistance in collection evaluation and development relevant to the curricular needs;
    4. enhancing faculty-library relations.
  12. PHOTOCOPYING/SCANNING SERVICEIt refers to the photographic reproduction of printed materials.
  13. ELECTRONIC INFORMATION BULLETINIt is a regular announcement of library activities, programs, new services and new policies and guidelines of the library.
  14. SERVICE TO OFF-CAMPUS RESEARCHERSA service extended to researchers from other schools/institutions and other organizations to access the resources and facilities of the library. They can be accommodated during library hours from Monday to Saturday, with a  minimal fee.

 

 

 

 

FACULTY

GENERAL RULES

  1. Silence must be observed strictly at all times.
  2. Cell phones and other electronic communication gadgets must be set to silent mode while inside the library; answering/making calls should be done outside the library.
  3. The library is mainly for research. Eating, sleeping and discussions among faculty members and with the students are strongly discouraged.
  4. Faculty members using laptops may use the electrical outlets at designated areas in the library.
  5. Faculty members are requested not to leave their things at the faculty area.

 

ON RESERVE BOOKS

All library-owned materials with the exception of the General Reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks and others may be placed on reserve at the teacher’s option.

 

ON REFERENCE SERVICE

  1. Faculty members will be referred to all possible sources of information in their reference and research needs and in the preparation of their syllabi.
  2. Faculty members should inform the librarian ahead of time before assigning certain readings/research topics to their students, to enable her to prepare the needed materials.
  3. Faculty members should fill out the Supervised Library Activity Form three (3) days before bringing/sending their classes to the library during class hours. They should stay with their students in the duration of the library activity. Giving instructions to students should be done in their respective classrooms.
  4. A computer unit is provided at the faculty area for the purpose of OPAC/ database searching and retrieval of information only.

 

 

ON CIRCULATION

  1. Faculty members are encouraged to borrow books in their area of specialization one week before classes start.
  2. Faculty members may borrow a maximum of 15 titles of books on subjects taught for one month, renewable for another month. However, the library may recall/hold the books borrowed if needed by another client.
  3. Faculty members taking graduate courses, or enrolled in other courses shall be subject to the same regulations governing graduate students and students of other departments.
  4. Faculty members are discouraged to borrow books for other members of their family or friends.
  5. General Reference books such as encyclopedias, dictionaries atlases, maps, globes, and others are for “Library Use Only”, However, these can be borrowed for “Classroom Use”.
  6. Generally, periodicals are for “Library Use Only”, however these can be borrowed for “Classroom Use”.
  7. Faculty members with unreturned books/library materials cannot borrow books/library materials unless they return/renew them.
  8. Unreturned materials on a given deadline are considered lost and charges are computed and forwarded to the accounting office upon the consent of the concerned faculty member. After one (1) year, charges are non-refundable.
  9. Damaged/lost books must be reported immediately to the circulation desk/counter and to be replaced or paid within 30 days. Lost periodicals must be reported immediately to the Librarian. Replacement of the same title and issues is preferred.
  10. During inventory period, teachers are discouraged to borrow books and other library materials.

 

 

ON CD-ROM ACCESS

  1. Faculty members are enjoined to log-in/log-out when accessing online/electronic databases and other electronic resources available at the CD-ROM Area.
  2. Original copies of CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs and others are for “Library Use Only” and can be viewed only at the CD-ROM Area.
  3. Faculty members may borrow a maximum of five(5) CDs on subjects taught for one week and can be renewed for another week provided there’s no prior request for them.
  4. For lost CDs, the borrower has to pay P200.00 which includes replacement and processing fee.
  5. Requests for personal copy of CDs, DVDs and others are strictly prohibited.
