The Tourism students of the College of Commerce emerged as the overall champion during the 2017 International Travel Festival (ITF) held in Ayala Center last July 14-16, 2017.
Third year student Julia Emi Nakayama was crowned Miss Tourism Cebu 2017, besting 16 other candidates for the crown. She also bagged the Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality awards.
In addition to winning the pageant, USJ-R team also placed first in the ITF Quiz Bowl. This is the second consecutive year that USJ-R won the said contest.
The quiz bowl team was composed of Kristelle Tudtud, Kathleen Ocampo, and Kisha Riconalla. Their faculty coaches were Ryan Jay Abrahan, Katleya Vale-Mission, Pamela Joy Alviola, and Rualdo Radomes.
The ITF is an annual travel fair in Cebu primarily intended for the travel enthusiasts. The fair provides discounted travel deals for people to experience the different wonders of the world. This event is organized by MyEventology in partnership with the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Promotion Board.
