SHS publication releases its first magazine

July 22, 2017Lorraine Mitzi Ambrad

The Josenian Premier(TJP) of the SHS Department launched its first-ever published magazine last June 21, 2017 at the Recoletos Coliseum, Basak Campus.

With the theme “Genesis”, the publication embarked its first step after birth towards giving the student body a dedicated, well-rounded, and versatile school paper that will cater to them and be a reflection of today’s generation.

University President Rev. Fr. Christopher Maspara, OAR challenged all the writers to express their Christian view in this magazine.

“May the Josenian Premier be an instrument of Evangelization. May you not only place or write those compositions of whatever kind but may you use the Josenian Premier to publish your Catholic point of view. May this publication be an instrument of Evangelization so that whoever would get the copy of this magazine and read through the different compositions may be strengthened in their faith and may deepen their love for life,” he said.

In front of almost 2,400 SHS students, the university president together withSHS Principal Mrs. Nila Garcia and Student Activity Program Coordinator Dr. Marivic G. Diwa led the ribbon cutting ceremony as a sign of the official launching of the school paper.

“The Josenian Premier is a collective team effort of the Senior High School Department. Any individual going through the magazine could carry each principle and value of the institution. I am proud to present that the TJP magazine promotes creativity,” Dr. Diwa said.

TJP Editor-in-Chief Paula Marie Elizalde challenged the TJP staff to make benchmarking a habit and bring out the best of the Josenian writers. She also reminisced the struggles the TJP editorial board and staff had faced while preparing for the launching and publication of the first ever magazine in the SHS Department.

A small gathering was also held after the official launching to celebrate the success of the TJP publication and the accomplishment of the SHS department in giving the student body a magazine that will serve as their reflection in the University.
