Prior General Fray Miguel Ángel Hernández Domínguez, OAR met with the Augustinian Recollect community in Cebu including the friars, AR sisters, school administrators, Josenian students, faculty members, and office professionals on October 5.
As the highest official in the order of Augustinian Recollects, he answered concerns raised by the audience in an open forum. Moreover, he urged the teachers to be good shepherds to the students. For the students, he encouraged them to be resilient as they live in a competitive world and find a dignified job after graduation.
“We live in a world of competition. It is hard to live in a place in society, where the youth should not waste every opportunity offered to them. The youth must search for dignified job,” he said in Spanish. (Translated by Prof. Emmanuel Romanillos via livestream)
The Prior General was welcomed with a series of performances from the Adelante Dance Troupe and the Liturgical Yodelers Recoletos in the Main Campus. Afterwhich, he proceeded to the USJ-R Basak Campus and was welcomed with a series of cultural performances at the Recoletos Coliseum from the students in the basic education level.
“Everyone has gone out of their way to give us the best welcome, the best reception. I could not imagine in my wildest dreams that we would have such a welcome from the communities, schools, universities, colleges, parishes and missions. There has been no lack of expressions of welcome, of affection, which will remain in my heart for a long time,” said the Prior General in a post-visit interview.
Rev. Fr. Domingo Saladaga, OAR and Rev. Fr. Raul Buhay, OAR acted as the Prior General’s translators in the Main and Basak Campus respectively because the Prior General speaks Spanish. Rev. Fr. Luciano Audisio Matias, OAR accompanied him.
