USJ-R Elementary Department releases primer for ‘new normal’ classes

June 18, 2020Lorraine Mitzi Ambrad

With the pandemic in mind, the University of San Jose – Recoletos reimagines the way of providing quality education to its students through flexible learning which works online and offline.

This move has been taken in order to adapt to the new normal – a setup where students can continue their formal education while staying safe at the comforts of their homes.

The new school year for the basic education level is set to start on August 10, 2020. Enrollment has begun on June 16. For enrollment guidelines, click here: Academic Year 2020-2021

For assistance, you may click here to send a message to the virtual office of our elementary department.

As an overview, the University adopts a Modified Hybrid Learning Approach. This has two models namely synchronous and asynchronous. The first model means having real-time activities like video conferencing while the other means having activities that students can do offline at their own pace.

This new approach has been implemented starting with the senior high school and college students of summer 2020.

The University has launched #REACH4You as the hashtag for this initiative. To “REACH” means:

R – Redefining academic excellence

E – Enriching quality teaching

A – Achieving sustainable learning

C – Championing peer-to-peer collaboration

H – Honing lifelong skill set

To get everyone on board, the basic education departments and colleges released their respective primers which serves as a guide how the new learning modality works.

USJ-R SHS partnered with Quipper Philippines for its learning management system (LMS). The colleges will be using the Adelante LMS through the Moodle app. The Elementary and Junior High Departments will be using Genyo and Aralinks respectively.
