GMA Excellence Awardee is a Josenian Again

August 31, 2018Julie Ann Salmeron

Cebuano Mark Roland Romas was hailed as the 2018 GMA Excellence Awardee for Communication last August 10.

The GMA Network Excellence Award (GNEA) recognizes deserving Filipino graduates through the demo of leadership, academic performance, and social responsibility. It is open for Filipino graduating students of Mass Communication, Multimedia Arts, Advertising, Electronics Communication, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology who excel in leadership, academic performance, and social responsibility.

The panel of judges for this year include GMA artist Rocco Nacino, GNEA Ambassador Benjamin Alves, and journalist Howie Severino. GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon led the awarding ceremonies at the GMA Boardroom together with Yes Pinoy Foundation Chairman Dingdong Dantes, and GNEA Ambassador Benjamin Alves.

Romas is the second Josenian recipient of the GMA Network Excellence Award, next to Josenian Communication graduate Lorraine Mitzi Ambrad who was awarded as the first Cebuana recipient of GNEA in August 2017.

He graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Communication. He was the former President of the Supreme Student Council 36th Congress and of the Cebu Alliance of Mass Communication Students (CAMS). He also served as the President of the Young Minds Academy Season 10. Romas also actively participated in the different activities inside and outside the university.

After winning the excellence award, Romas plans to pursue his career in the field of journalism.  He hopes to inspire more aspiring journalists to serve the country through public service.
