The dean of the College of Commerce, Dr. Edgar Detoya, is recipient of Leadership Award from the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) – Cebu Chapter.
The award was given last July 21, 2017 during the PICPA Summit held at Marco Polo Plaza Hotel.
The citation stated that the award is in “grateful recognition for his outstanding leadership and contribution towards the achievement of the Institute’s goals and objectives for the year, served with unselfish devotion and total commitment to duty”.
Detoya served as President of PICPA-Cebu Chapter for fiscal year 2016-2017. As immediate past president, Dr. Detoya now serves as an adviser to the board of PICPA-Cebu. The other faculty members of the College of Commerce who currently serve as PICPA officers are Dexter Cuevas (Treasurer), Cedric Val Naranjo (Assistant Treasurer), and Jun Brian Alenton (Press Relations Officer).
For several years, USJ-R has been actively supporting PICPA in its various projects that benefit not only the CPAs and Accounting students but also some marginalized communities.
