About the School of Allied Medical Sciences


The School of Allied Medical Sciences of the University of San Jose-Recoletos is committed to provide Quality Christian Community-Oriented Education and to produce a globally-competent nurse who shall make a big difference in the Nursing Profession.

History

The College formally opened its doors to 1,027 nursing students in the First Semester of S.Y. 2004 – 2005.

“OPEN ADMISSION, STRICT RETENTION AND PROMOTION POLICY” is adopted by the college in order to inspire the clientele from the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

The commendations from the RQuAT, Commision on Higher Education (CHED) Technical Team from the PRC Board of Nursing ultimately paved the way for the issuance of the college permit to operate.
( Reg. Permit No. 105, S.2004).

On October 2007 the Commission on Higher Education awarded the college full government recognition through Government Recognition No. 024 which was formally given in 2008. On July 24 of the same year, the first batch  of graduates who took the Nursing Licensure Examination made waves when they cupped the 100% passing rate.

We want USJ-R to be a leading Augustinian Recollect Educational Institution Committed to Quality Christian Community-Oriented Education in the Philippines.

Mission

To provide Catholic Education for the holistic formation of graduates prepared to meet the needs and challenges of the local and global community.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The School of Allied Medical Sciences of the University of San Jose-Recoletos is committed to provide Quality Christian Community-Oriented Education and to produce a globally-competent nurse who shall make a big difference in the Nursing Profession.

The following are the objectives of the program:

  • To equip the student with the necessary knowledge and skills in utilizing the nursing process to promote safe and quality patient care.
  • To develop the student’s ability to adapt, organize, and manage advancements in technology and resources.
  • To improve the student’s communication skills and strategies for effective health education.
  • To establish the student’s sense of accountability of the legal responsibilities with the evolving role transferability in support of patient-centered care.
  • To create the student’s awareness and observance of the national and international ethico-moral standards.
  • To mold the student’s positive attitude and commitment to life-long personal and professional growth.
  • To enhance the student’s ability to utilize research for the individual client, family, and the community across the health and illness continuum.
  • To foster student’s ability to collaborate care and promote teamwork with other members of the health team.
Specifically, the School of Allied Medical Sciences aims to:

1. Provide the students with competent faculty with an insatiable desire for
academic excellence, spiritual enrichment and personal fulfillment as exemplary role
models of a professional Christian nurse;

2. Provide opportunities to students, faculty, and staff to become pastoral ministers and to serve as effective Christian change agents;

3. Render extension services and strengthen the instructional programs that will support USJ-R’s and government’s thrusts for community development;

4. Mold the capability of the College to become a resource center in extending its academic expertise to local, regional, and national clientele;

5. Ensure a mutual upgrading, growth, and development of the physical resources of the College for efficient academic and administrative management;

6. Strengthen and maintain linkages with other departments of the University, other Colleges of Nursing, government agencies, and non-government organizations which offer services and opportunities for growth.

School of Allied Medical Sciences Seal

  1. CADUCEUS – Caduceus is a symbolic staff surmounted by two wings and entwined with two snakes. It was a symbol of HERMES-the messenger of Greek Gods and associated with the Mercury, a Roman God. A symbol of Asclepius, the Greek God of healing. Caduceus was carried by herald and ambassadors among ancient Greeks as a badge of office. Caduceus is a mark of personal inviolability. It is a symbol of a protector and a special servant that brings forth good luck and wealth. Caduceus symbolizes the breath of the eternal soul and healing
  2. LAUREL –  Classified scientifically as Laurus nobilis. In ancient Greece, the laurel was sacred to the God Apollo and laurel wreaths are awarded to poets; the olive, sacred to the goddess Athena, was given to victorious athletes, notably in the Olympics. Laurels signify extraordinary performance of talents, knowledge, skills and dedication. It is a symbol of achievement, success, and victory.
  3. COLORS
    1. Red : represents LOVE and LIFE
    2. White : represents PEACE & PURITY OF HEART
    3. Green : represents LIFE and LUCK
    4. Gold : represents STABILITY and SUCCESS
