The program exposes students into a profound study of literary genres, the classic readings of literature as well as the works of contemporary literary masters. It develops the skills of literary criticism, analysis, and interpretation. As it prepares students for the doctorate degree in literature, a culture of research is developed requiring students to produce research papers/outputs that are to be presented in national and international conferences and published in international peer-reviewed and indexed journals of the discipline. It also updates students with the current trends and practices in the teaching of literature in higher education.
