The University of San Jose-Recoletos participated in four cultural and religious activities slated as part of the Sinulog 2023 celebration.
The Adelante Dance Troupe(ADT) represented the University during the Opening Salvo organized by the Sinulog Foundation Inc. on January 6. It started with a eucharistic celebration at the Pilgrim Center of the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu. After which, the dancers had a street dancing parade from the Basilica to the Cebu City Sports Center via the Osmeña Boulevard.
The women ADT dancers wore pastel pink Filipiniana dresses and the men wore a classic off-white barong with gold trimmings. USJ-R was designated to present a performance inspired by the Dalit Festival. The other contingents for the Sinulog Opening Salvo were from other Cebu colleges and universities.
On January 7, ADT also had a back-to-back show with University of the Visayas (UV) at the Fuente Osmeña Circle. The show started at 7:00PM. USJ-R opened it with a series of cultural performances.
On the religious side, the University had its mass sponsorship on January 9 at 5:30PM. The mass was presided by Rev. Fr. Eduardo Celiz Jr., OAR and was concelebrated with other OAR friars.
The Liturgical Yodelers Recoletos (LYRE) served as the official choir for the mass at the Basilica on January 11.
