A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was inked by University of San Jose-Recoletos and St. Paul University Surigao (SPUS) to open up opportunities for exchange of best practices primarily in the field of sustainable education.
The signing ceremony was done virtually on August 7.
SPUS President Sister Marie Rosanne Mallillin, SPC expressed her gratitude to USJ-R and excitement for what’s to come. She attended the ceremony together with her Vice President for Academics, her Dean of the College of Education, Culture, and Arts, and her Program Chair for Professional Subjects.
USJ-R was one of only three schools visited by SPUS administrators and professors in April 2023. Impressed with the facilities and teacher education, they decided to forge an agreement with USJ-R.
The cooperative and collaborative agreement between the parties shall include the exchange of faculty and students. It also enables the sharing of practices in areas such as pedagogical techniques, curriculum development, research and design thinking initiatives.
USJ-R Vice President for Academics and Research Rev. Fr. Jose Alden B. Alipin, OAR attended the signing together with representatives from the School of Education (SED) and Education for Sustainable Development Center.
In her concluding remarks, SED OIC Dean Ma. Aira Chenessa Aguilar expressed her enthusiasm over the groundbreaking partnership with SPUS. She looked forward to strengthening these ties further with more visits, exchanges, linkages, and collaboration.
USJ-R SED is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education since 1996.
