August 24, 2022Lorraine Mitzi Ambrad

Employees and students in the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) were oriented on the health and safety protocols which is implemented for the AY 2022-2023.

This activity was organized by the school’s COVID Response Team to get everyone on board and share how the institution intends to carry on its operations in the context of the new normal. The speaker was Dr. Feli Rose Paracuelles, one of the doctors who serve in the University’s Clinic.

Embracing a blended learning modality, the tertiary level will start implementing F2F classes on September 12, 2022. Basic Education is also implementing a progressive F2F approach to align with DepEd’s mandate.

Among the points which were highlighted in the orientation is the detention of individuals in the University’s new isolation room if ever they show symptoms. The Contact Tracing Team shall track the people in contact with the patient. The Risk Assessment Team assesses the conditions of these people for further action. The surveillance team monitors the patient closely.

“There shall be no suspension of classes or work, however, all these activities shall automatically shift to an online modality until the lifting of the granular or university lockdown,” stated in the document.

A disinfection will also be done campus-wide when someone tests positive.

There shall be an automatic suspension of face-to-face classes if the location of the University is declared Alert Level 4 or 5. However, classes and work shall right away shift to online modality.

Lay administrators, faculty, office professionals, academic non-teaching faculty, or READS with COVID-19 symptoms shall inform the immediate head or READS In-Charge. The Immediate Head or READS In-Charge coordinates with the Health Services Department. They are restricted from on-site duties and shall fill out and submit the COVID-19 Symptoms Surveillance Google Form for monitoring.

A student with COVID-19 symptoms notifies the faculty, who in turn informs the department head or dean/principal and the Health Services Department. This student is not allowed to attend classes. Fills up and submits the COVID-19 Symptoms Surveillance Google form. The surveillance team coordinates with the Safety and Security Department on the list of students under quarantine and restricted entry in the campus.
