Junior High students dance to advocate health and wellness

August 1, 2017Lorraine Mitzi Ambrad

Grade 10 students led a free Zumba session to culminate the this year’s celebration of Nutrition Month.

It was participated by both students and teachers of the university’s Junior High School Department.

The MAPEH(Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health) faculty members strengthened their promotion of proper diet, correct food intake, fitness and wellness through organizing the activity.

This July 2017, the theme is  “Healthy Habit, Gawing Habit for Life”.

“We aim for a more realistic approach to celebrating annually the nutrition month through Zumba to be led by the Grade 10 students,” says Mr. Janus Jagmoc, the MAPEH chairman.

He added that the objective of the activity was to make the participants be aware of the importance of engaging oneself through physical activity in a form of dance.

“It is important that at an early age, the students are aware of the importance of nutrition,” Jagmoc continued.

The Zumba session during the Nutrition Month celebration will be held again next year.

“It would be the same because of the positive feedback we are getting from the students and teachers,” he said.
