The University of San Jose-Recoletos is welcoming school administrators, teachers, students and parents to a two-day educational technology (ed-tech) summit to be held at the Recoletos Coliseum in Basak campus on May 18-19.
The ed-tech summit — which has a theme, “Harnessing 21st Century Literacies through Digital Ideas and Innovations” — aims to respond to the great challenge by providing educators an access to learn, relearn and unlearn knowledge and pedagogical skills about technology and its strong impact to quality teaching and learning in the 21st century classrooms.
“The summit will allow educators and participants to rethink and reevaluate the present educational offerings and instruction, and reengineer or retool the academic instruction approaches and strategies to revitalize and remake the future of the 21st century learners,” organizers said.
The two-day summit will discuss E-learning impacts and best practices in ASEAN countries; designing a 21st century school system; instructional models for 21st century learners; designing 21st century engaging learning activities; digital learning tools for assessing 21st century learners; and digital literacy tools in the 21st century learning, among others.
Invited speakers are leading educators of the country and industry practitioners.
The fast-changing landscape of Philippine education has challenged schools to revolutionize creativity and rationality to keep them relevant to the needs of the time, organizers said.
With the advent of 21st century education, change becomes an integral facet to advance learning to higher dimensions; and thus, this change necessitates the formation of educators who are equipped with the vital skills to facilitate the change process, they said.
Organizers hope that teachers become digital innovators who are ready to engage the learners meaningfully with 21st century experiences and scale their learning to boundless limits and possibilities.
Specifically, the summit intends to bridge the knowledge and skill gaps between teachers and students; equip teachers with the baseline pedagogical proficiency to facilitate digital instruction; design a 21st century classroom through innovative ideas and practices; asses the 21st century learning processes; and advance academic achievement of learners as a result of sound technological interventions.
