With the theme: The Role of Business in Global Integration, the College of Commerce successfully opened this year’s Commerce Week on January 26, 2015. The opening commenced with a Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Emilio Jaruda, OAR.
The Dean, Dr. Edgar R. Detoya, in his Welcome Message, personally looked at the integration as an opportunity, rather than a threat which would depend on the personal outlook of an individual and his/her readiness to embrace the integration. In stressing the significance of businesses in the integration, a weeklong line-up of activities depicting and nourishing the business mindset of both the students and faculty were planned, which include:
The event is graced by the Father Administrators, with Rev. Fr. Emilio L. Larlar, OAR, Vice President for Administration, conveying his Inspirational Message. Its context focused on the University’s thrust in providing Quality Christian, Community – Oriented Education and the core values of the University, INSPIRE. He also emphasized the importance of providing high quality service and the desire of attaining high level of morality. This will be useful for the stakeholders of the College of Commerce as we continually strive for excellence.
Also exhibited during the opening are the award-winning displays from the Tourism and Hospitality Management Department, to wit: cakes, Bread showpiece, events management, chocolate truffle, chocolate centerpiece, and tourism attractions. Along with this, business products were also gathered to present the entrepreneurial skills of Business Plan students. It also includes the investment portfolio of Financial Management Students and the Feasibility Study books of Accountancy Students.
The Commerce Week 2015 is always one of the most-awaited weeks in the University since it emphasizes not only the competitive academic culture but also the God – given talents of both the students and the faculty.
