Called for his expertise in educators’ trainings, Professor Jestoni P. Babia, the chairman of USJR Department of Teacher Education, was invited to sit as the consulting expert in a series of trainings for Energy Flash Cards Development for selected public school teachers nationwide.
The said training was sponsored by ONE Meralco Foundation (OMF) and the Coalition for Better Education (CBE) in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).
The overall goal of the said training is to create Science Flash Cards that will be utilized by basic education students in the country in building science competencies among them.
Furthermore, these Science Flash Cards are aligned to the prescribed K-12 Curriculum standards and competencies.
“CBE, being the proponent of the program, thoroughly selected the teachers nationwide, having at least ICT skills and basic Science competencies, particularly in the Physical Sciences.
It will also help build students’ basic knowledge in Science concepts tapping their critical thinking and problem- solving abilities”, shares Professor Babia.
Geographically, 12 Cities in the Philippines will be trained by this program. Among the pioneering cities trained this year were: Cagayan de Oro City; Dumaguete City; and Batangas City.
USJR College of Education has been the consistent partner of CBE , DepEd and OMF in providing teacher- trainings nationwide over the past years.
