January 19, 2016Ronilo Cempron

sam_4364-300x179The USJ-R Library System on its quest to give the best service to its clientele, provides development programs and activities for the staff and personnel to widen their knowledge, skills and competencies essential for the job.

Last January 19, 2016 a good number of librarians attended the whole day Echo Seminar Activity held at the Main Library’s Multi-Purpose Room. The activity aimed to introduce new trends and development in the library and information field and to enhance professional skills through lectures and seminars.

The undertaking provided venue for the library staff to share information and insights on librarianship and current information systems. The presenters and the topics they respectively shared were the following:

  1. Ms. Nerissa C. Umbay (“CE Logic National Electronic Conference”)
  2. Ms. Marietta B. Alcontin (“Assessment and Development of Librarians’ Professional Competencies Towards ASEAN Integration”)
  3. Mrs. Flora O. Tuba (“Preparing the School Library to the Challenges in the New K to 12 Program”)
  4. Mrs. Alma P. Pagdalian and Ms. Lovella P. Lumasag (“Making Ideas Happen: Understanding Accreditation Standards and Sustaining Excellence” by MAHLAP)
  5. Ms. Whagie G. Saronillo (“CPD Matters: Continuing Professional Development Consultative Forum for Librarians and Library Information Science Students in Central Visayas”)
  6. Mr. John Louie T. Zabala (“Asia-Pacific Library and Information Education Practice”)
  7. Mrs. Teodorita C. Sarmiento (“UNESCO: Memory of the World Philippine Documentary Heritage”)

This endeavor was a success with the continued support of the administrators and the active participation of the library staff and personnel. (flor & mayette)
