The School of Allied Medical Sciences (SAMS) of the University of San Jose-Recoletos is committed to providing quality Christian community-oriented education and to producing globally competent nurses and medical technologists.
In October 2007, SAMS was given a full government recognition by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through Government Recognition No. 024. The first batch of nursing graduates took the Nursing Licensure Examination with a 100% passing rate on July 24 2008.
The nomenclature of the six colleges in the University of San Jose-Recoletos has been changed effective in the first semester of academic year 2020-2021. This after the School Board approved the said move and a memorandum was issued by the Office of the President on August 7, 2020. Hence, the name "College of Nursing" became "School of Allied Medical Sciences".
The BS Medical Technology program, now called BS Medical Laboratory Science (BSMLS), was first opened in the first semester of AY 2020-2021. It was renamed to BSMLS to meet international medical standards.

The following are the objectives of the program:
1. Provide the students with competent faculty with an insatiable desire for
academic excellence, spiritual enrichment, and personal fulfillment as exemplary role
models of a professional Christian nurse;
2. Provide opportunities to students, faculty, and staff to become pastoral ministers and to serve as effective Christian change agents;
3. Render extension services and strengthen the instructional programs that will support USJ-R’s and the government’s thrusts for community development;
4. Mold the capability of the College to become a resource center in extending its academic expertise to local, regional, and national clientele;
5. Ensure a mutual upgrading, growth, and development of the physical resources of the College for efficient academic and administrative management;
6. Strengthen and maintain linkages with other departments of the University, other Colleges of Nursing, government agencies, and non-government organizations which offer services and opportunities for growth.
