Josenians held torches and went into a 75-figure formation on the evening of October 8 at the USJ-R Basak grounds to make a commemorative visual.
Seventy-five personalities were chosen from the religious administrators, current & former lay administrators, and outstanding USJ-R graduates. Each of the Josenians held a torch and were placed beside a jubilee urn. Just as everyone shouted “Adelante” three times, the fireworks display kicked off.
Among the notable USJ-R alumni present were Lapu-lapu City Mayor Junard Chan, Lobo Batangas Mayor Lota Manalo, Cebu City Councilor Dondon Hontiveros, and Vallacar Transit COO Hernan Omecillo.
The official USJ-R at 75 theme song entitled “Forward Let Us Move” was performed by its singer-composer John Willace Tubalde while the fireworks display was ongoing.
The fireworks display lasted for about five minutes. The spectacle was launched from the rooftop of the Nuestra Señora De La Salud Building.
This activity was witnessed by everyone who attended the Grand Alumni Homecoming at the USJ-R Basak Campus.
The aerial shots of the celebration immediately gained attention of Josenians across the globe and garnered over 6,000 reactions and reached half a million users in the first 24 hours.
To recall, USJ-R was founded in 1947. From being a college, it attained a university status in 1984.
