Seventy scholars of Passerelles Numeriques Philippines (PNH) are set to study computer technology at the USJ-R School of Computer Studies (SCS) beginning the first semester of AY 2023-2024.
These scholars are underserved Filipino youth from Visayas and Mindanao. They were scouted from public senior high schools in regions 6, 7, 8, and 10.
From over 2,000 applicants, only seventy were chosen. Associate in Computer Technology (ACT) is the two-year diploma program which will be offered to the selected scholars.
An agreement was signed yesterday for the first time between USJ-R and PNH to make this possible.
“We find USJ-R very accommodating and aligned with our programs and thrusts in PN (Passerelles Numeriques),” said PNPH Representative Malou Flores.
Aside from the Philippines, the said French non-government organization has centers in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Madagascar. Its thrust is to provide education-to-employment opportunities to disadvantaged youth through quality IT education.
University President Eduardo Celiz Jr., OAR expressed that he wishes for the partnership to be renewed after his term so USJ-R extend its expertise to underprivileged yet deserving students.
Since 2016, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognizes the School of Computer Studies (formerly CICCT) as Center of Excellence for IT Education.
