Residents in Maslog, Danao received gifts and goodies from the University of San Jose-Recoletos through the Institute of Non Formal Education Community Outreach Program (INFECOP) on December 14 at the Recoletos Eco Park Pilgrimage Pavilion.
It is a way of celebrating Christmas by giving bundles of joy to the less fortunate.
Dr. Joanna de Catalina, INFECOP supervisor, said that it’s an annual program that they do since 2015. The event is dubbed “Pakig-ambit sa Pasko” which means sharing blessings to the people during Christmas. There were 45 families who became recipients this year. From the said group, 60 were kids living within the vicinity.
The event started a mass at 9:00 AM which was officiated by Rev. Fr. Rouel Sia, OAR. It was followed with a short program. Catalina gave her opening remarks after Fr. Sia delivered his inspirational message.
During the event proper, the children played parlor games namely Longest Line, What’s the Action and Hep Hep Hooray with a Twist. The winners were immediately rewarded.
This is the 5th year that INFECOP conducted the said activity in Danao City.
Catalina noted that the number of beneficiaries have increased this 2020 compared to the previous years. She expressed that this makes the community extension arm of USJ-R happy because more participants means that the University has shared blessings to more people than before.
