Six Josenian interns, who recently finished their internship in Japan last summer, visited the university president to share their experiences on July 8.
These students are from different colleges: one is from the College of Education, two are from the College of Engineering and the rest are from the College of Arts and Science.
They are Razi Brian Navarro (Bachelor of Secondary Education), Miriam Braga (BS Mechanical Engineering), Germae Anne Inot (BS Civil Engineering), Kent Espina (AB International Studies), Patricia Mae Salang (AB English), and Moira Donna Mojares (AB English).
Inot, an intern in Okamura CO LTD along side with Braga, said that they not only worked for one department but were also exposed to various departments like mechanical, powerplant, piping, and chemical. She added that they were also immersed to the Japanese culture and attractions during their three-month stay in the land of cherry blossoms.
Okamura CO LTD is a partner of the University of San Jose-Recoletos.
Another Josenian intern, Mojares, said that the things she experienced is a lot different in Cebu. She remarked that the Japanese thinks out of the box and are very open to new ideas.
Mojares together with Salang, Espina and Brian had their internship in Saku Chosei Junior and Senior High School.
Because of the internship experience abroad, most of these interns said they want to pursue their careers in Japan for a better paycheck and more opportunities.
The overseas exposure of the students was made possible through the linkages of USJ-R and the Student Internship Abroad Program of the Commission on Higher Education.
