A group of engineering students will represent the University of San Jose – Recoletos (USJ-R) on the first ever DOTA 2 tournament organized by the Cebu City Government through the Office of the City Mayor.
The team, dubbed as Blackpink, is composed of Jameson Eria Baguioro, Shem Al, Josh Go, Jan Lloyd Tumulak, Jessie Piedad, and Rafael Chaw. The group is a mix of industrial engineering and computer engineering students.
They emerged as the winner after a qualifiers game held at the St. Ezekiel Moreno Building in the Basak Campus on February 22. It was facilitated by the Supreme Student Council through Emmanuel Sisnorio (IT HR) and Reginald Orcullo(Engineeering HR) in cooperation of the marshals from Cebu eSports United.
Two more teams competed against Blackpink namely Hole Team and Mirocle.
Asked on the value of having an online game tournament, a house representative of the SSC expressed his thoughts.
“It makes us a better person and at the same time a better team player, not only in games but also in real life situations” Sisnorio said.
Dubbed the Mayor’s Cup 2019, DOTA players representing their respective colleges and universities will compete at Robinson’s Galleria on March 22 to 24.
Based on the online announcement made by the Cebu City Government, the first opponent of USJ-R will be the team from the Unviersity of San Carlos (USC). Then, the winner between the two will compete with either the University of the Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) or Asian College Technology (ACT).
