Two national tilts in the software development arena were won by students from the College of Information, Computer and Communications Technology (CICCT) in two consecutive months.
Team Sportify composed of Josenian Information Technology (IT) students won the second place of the 14th Smart Sweep National Contest held in Makati City on May 10 and 11. They developed a mobile app which can link sports enthusiasts with each other so they can schedule games together.
The team members are Alexis Charles Cruz, Ry-el Mycoh Basilan, and Rodrigo Isabelo Jr. Their adviser is Mark Cedrick Antonino.
They received P200,000 as the cash prize.
SWEEP stands for Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP) which recognizes student innovations. USJ-R has been joining the said competition since 2016. In fact, a Josenian team won the championship in 2017.
In another national competition, another group of Josenian students champed the i3 National Mobile Competition.
It is Team Capriccioso which is composed of IT students Daniel Kent Fernandez, Jeremy Santillan, Junn Dobit Paras, and Sept Joshua Rey Lozada together with Computer Engineering student Roland Bautista.
The competition was participated by different universities and colleges on June 2. It was held in Cebu City.
Being the national champions, they will be representing the Philippines in the International Pitching and Hackathon contest in Hongkong which is scheduled in the second week of June 2018.
