Twenty-nine graduates of the Recoletos Industrial and Technological Training Center (RITTC) were granted Level 1 International Certifications by the Royal Institution of Singapore (RIS).
Of this number, there were 11 assistant cooks, 5 bookkeepers, and 13 bread and pastry assistants.
The certified assistant cooks were Emily Aviles, Jonalyn Baguioro, Shiela Marie Cabaltan, Elena Cabreros, Charo Consolacion, Jasmin Ocha, Margarita Ortouste, Ronald Policios Jr., Remedios Raffinan, Ivy Salimbangon, and Nikki Tubig.
Meanwhile, Mae Colina, Cefreghel Graciosa, Carmerose Manguilomotan, Annafe Ng, and Morelin Sabornido were certified bookkeepers.
In addition, the RIS certified bread and bastry assistants were Janalyn Abadiano, Jinjin Andales, Kaushar Barino, Ann Margaretta Chicote, Jeziels Codilla, Eleanor Alesna-Dela Cerna, Jene Rose Egona, Glaryll Kerstina Geraldez, Hylone Lechoco, Artchan Manto, Jake Marzon, Suzette Omayan, and Lyngily Adorra.
RITTC Director Mary Ann Roble said that no one in the whole history of their special programs failed the assessment for the international certification.
Roble explained that having an international certification is advantageous for it heightens the possibility of getting hired by international companies.
“At least they are now recognized in another country and not just the Philippines. Because of this recognition, compensation-wise mas makapabor sila kung naay international certification,” she said.
Moreover, Roble said that each of their graduates possesses at least three certifications before leaving the center. The three are the National Competency (NC) issued by TESDA, Computer Literacy Certificate issued by Intel, and the International Certification issued by RIS.
RITTC is eyeing to create partners in Malaysia, Jeddah, Australia, and London in the coming years.
“Enrolment wise, it’s increasing every year. Now, we are close to 1,500,” she continued while stressing that being the only university in the country that offers this triple certification is the center’s edge.
RITTC skills training runs for approximately two months. The curriculum is student-centered in such a way that students get to pick their schedules and are outputs-based.
Most of the students are graduates who wants to enhance their skills in order to pass the NC and OFWs who have failed to renew their contracts.
“Dili lang ni para sa mga makaafford kung di para sad sa mga pobre. As long as interested and willing mo-hone sa ilang skills, welcome kaayo,” Roble remarked.
