The newly elected student leaders of the Josenian Educators Organization (JoEd) underwent a three-day leadership development program last June.
The program was conducted to equip the leaders of JEO’s 10th Congress with the necessary knowledge and skills to become effective and efficient.
The morning session was a talk about the standard operating procedures and protocols of several offices in the university, such as the Student Affairs Office (SAO), Property Administration Office (PAO), and Adelante Life and Emergency Rescue Team (ALERT).
The speakers from the respective offices provided the appropriate instructions in organizing events for the college throughout the academic year.
In the afternoon, Dr. Aurelio P. Vilbar conducted the first talk on the topic, “Facilitating Millennial Peers”, an understanding of millennials and its implication in leadership.
Rex Villavelez, a statistician, facilitated the next talk with the topic “Student Leadership”. Villavelez said ‘influence’ defines leadership.
The afternoon concluded with Dr. Edna Barrera-Cameron’s topic “Stress Management” about dealing with pressure and stress.
Mrs. Helmae Etulle-Tapanan, Chair of the College of Education (COE), opened the second day with her talk “Financial Management”. She discussed budget proposals, liquidations, and monetary expenses.
Jun Brian Alenton followed the talk with his topic “Planning and Organizing”.
A teambuilding activity organized by the university’s Supreme Student Council(SSC) kicked off in the afternoon. The afternoon concluded with the tasking of the activities for the first semester of the academic year.
The third day focused on the General Planning of Activities and finished with the thrust making, facilitated by COE Dean Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, JEO Adviser Ms. Ma. Aira Chenessa Benitez, and some of the college’s faculty members.
In closing, Dr. Babia challenged the participants to be consistent in their performance throughout the school year.
