Cebu City – The Josenian JPIANs brought home the bacon for both academic and non – academic competitions in the recently – concluded Annual Accountancy Week celebration, spearheaded by the Cebu Federation Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (CFJPIA) together with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Cebu Chapter. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Padayon CFJPIA – Advocating Unity in Diversity.” Fourteen schools from all over Cebu joined in the weeklong celebration which started on July 11 and culminated on July 18, 2015.
Academic activities jumpstarted the week with the Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) Challenge, Philippine Standards on Auditing (PSA) and Business Law and Taxation (BLT) Challenges, which were held on the first day in the University of San Jose – Recoletos Main Campus.
The Josenian contestants dominated the PFRS group and Individual Exam Challenges, represented by Allan Leo Paran, Jayvee Faust Anga, Harold Pacana, Shenen Mae Goc – ong and Jeselle Ann Echavez who each placed first to fifth, respectively, as well as the PSA Group and Individual Exam Challenges, to which USJR JPIA also came in first in the Group Category, as well as first, second, third and fifth places in the persons of Charisse Yu, Kenny Tabiliran, Melanie Castillanes, Frandel Fua and Ellyzah Kaye Torres, respectively.
The university contestants also placed second in the Group Category of the BLT Exam Challenges, as well as fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth place in the Individual Category led by Jayvee Faust Anga, Kenny Tabiliran, Shenen Mae Goc – ong and Allan Leo Paran, respectively.
The Annual Accounting Quizbowl for both Levels One and Two were then held on July 15 at the Ayala Activity Center to which USJR – JPIA placed second for Level Two, composed of Allan Leo Paran, Jayvee Faust Anga, Kenny Tabiliran, Shenen Mae Goc – ong and Ellyzah Kaye Torres.
The celebration culminated with numerous non – academic competitions held at the University of San Carlos Main Campus Gym. The USJR JPIANs placed first in the Essay Writing, Poster Making and JPIA Got Talent competitions in the persons of Kathleen Joanne Ayuda, Maria Fatima Tan, Dean Andre Baton and several selected Fourth Year Accountancy students, respectively. USJR JPIA bagged second place in the Dance Palabas Competition as well as the university’s contender for Ms. CFJPIA, Cyd Carla Seberre. The representatives for Mr. CFJPIA (Allan Andrei Osorio), Poem Writing Contest (Jonah Marie Enerlas), Extemporaneous Speaking (Charles Ray Alfeche) and Tall Tales (Amyl Treston Ortiz) placed third in their respective contest.
Other schools that participated in the said event are the University of San Carlos, University of Cebu – Main, University of Cebu – Banilad, University of Cebu – LapuLapu and Mandaue, Cebu Institute of Technology – University, Benedicto College, Lyceum of Cebu, University of the Southern Philippines Foundation, Southwestern University, Cebu Roosevelt Memorial College, University of the Visayas, St. Theresa’s College and ACLC College of Mandaue.
